I was sitting on the lounge and saw the moon through the balcony doors. Using the coffee table as a tripod, I took this shot.

Lens is a 1000mm Sigma mirror lens.

I've arrived in Sydney!

After leaving Coffs a little late this morning because I was having a hard time deciding between the Big Banana shot glasses and the Big Banana keyring, the rest of my journey went off without a hitch.

I just beat the rush hour traffic to arrive at Matt's place around 5pm. I was met by Matt and his girlfriend Pen at the door with champagne. All very pleasant.

I couldn't leave Coffs without going to the Big Banana! Well, to be completely honest, I really could but I wanted to buy some cheesy souveniers for Matt and Pen. I'm not sure what kind of a message that sends to my soon-to-be house mate and his girlfriend but it's better than arriving empty handed!

Actually I also have a SpongeBob SquarePants showbag that I bought at the Ekka a little while ago. 'Cos Matt likes SpongeBob. Really! Being a paediatric registrar, he likes to have things like SpongeBob pens and lanyards, etc. He says it's for the kids. Uh huh.

Coffs Harbour

I'm at Coffs Harbour tonight. Staying at the Bananatown Motel. How could I not stay there? Coffs is Bananatown after all!

The removalists came this morning and took all my stuff away. I only had a couple of boxes left to pack so I was finished before they ran out of things to move.

Stuffed heaps of garbage in the garabge chute, jumped in my car and started driving.

I was contemplating driving a bit further (maybe even straight through to Sydney) but it was already dark when I got to Coffs so I decided to stay here for the night. It shouldn't be a long drive to Sydney tomorrow so it's no biggie.

Moving to Sydney

I'm moving to Sydney tomorrow! I've quit my job here in Brisbane and I've decided to move in with my brother in the big smoke. He's living in a two-bed, two-bath, two car park apartment in Five Dock and he says he'd love the company and the help with the rent. So I'm going!

The removalists are coming in the morning and I'm not finished packing yet. Why do I always leave the packing to the last minute? I think I'll get it done even if it means packing the last few boxes while the removalists are here.

After that, I just have to jump in my car and start driving. I'm really looking forward to the drive. It'll be like my drive from Perth to Brisbane when I moved back here. Except it won't be as long. I have a book on CD to listen to in the car: Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. It's a very long book fantasy book in the David Eddings style. Which will make it perfect for listening to while driving, I think, because it's very light reading.

I don't have a job in Sydney lined up. I haven't even started looking! But there's a shortage of Java developers in Sydney so I should be okay. Besides, it'll be nice to take a bit of a break.
